I was contacted by photographer Karl-Johan Larsson to help him create some 3D kitchens for Electrolux. I actually joined the team first as Karl-Johan’s photo assistant when we went to Åre, a famous ski resort in Sweden. This was early in December and they had just got their first snow, so we had to start there before the snow could be gone again.
Karl-Johan photographed the landscapes, while I shot panoramic HDRI’s (High Dynamic Range Images) of each environment — capturing the 32-bit lighting information for each scene.
These HDRI’s could later be used by me to light the 3D scenes and this also made it a lot easier for me to match the CG kitchen elements with the photographed backplates.
